Youth Political Participation Program (YPPP)

Mission

At the Youth Political Participation Program (YPPP) of the Eagleton Institute of Politics, we hold that the quality of our democracy is based in large part on the education youth receive in citizenship. Through research, public service, and educational programs, YPPP is dedicated to exploring civic education at the high school level and political participation among young adults.

Understanding and encouraging youth political participation is more important than ever.  The remarkably large “Millennial Generation” – those born after 1976 – is poised to become a significant force in the American electorate.  The U.S. Census predicts that by 2015, “Millennials” will constitute one-third of the U.S. electorate.  The Youth Political Participation Program of the Eagleton Institute is dedicated to ensuring that these young people are informed and engaged participants in the political process.
