Contact Public Officials

Effective Ways to Contact Public Officials

  • Make phone calls and write letters to their offices.
It is a myth that Congress members do not read constituents’ letters. Because members of Congress receive hundreds of letters everyday, your letter should be concise, well thought out, and personal enough to create an effective message.
For more information on how to write to a public official, visit the League of Women Voters website.
  • Post e-mail or comments on officials’ websites.
  • Speak directly to public officials at public meetings.
