Governor's Executive Fellowship Program

Eagleton awards twelve Governor’s Executive fellowships annually. Governor’s fellows enroll in the Eagleton Seminar in American Politics in the fall. During the spring semester, fellows are placed in the Office of the Governor, Cabinet office or a state executive agency or department.

Governor’s fellowships provide a stipend of approximately $6,000. (These awards are contingent upon funding being included in the FY09 New Jersey state budget.

The Fellowship Year

Fall Semester

 

Governor’s Executive Fellows begin the program in the fall semester enrolling in the Eagleton Seminar in American Politics, a three-credit course listed in the Department of Political Science, which meets on Fridays from 12:00 to 3:00. Fellows will also participate in a one-day orientation session.

Spring Semester
 

Fellows will devote at least 15 hours per week in Trenton to their placements in the spring semester. Internship days must include a Friday and one other day. In addition, Fellows attend monthly group meetings in Trenton.

In the spring, Fellows also register for three credits of independent study in their respective disciplines and work with faculty members in their schools or disciplines, making the connection between academic study and hands-on practical experience in state government.

Governor’s Executive Fellows must maintain a B average during the year and remain in good academic standing in their disciplines.
