and promoting the political participation of minorities and immigrants.
National Asian Pacific American Legal Consortium
(NAPALC)
This website is run by the National Asian Pacific American Legal Consortium
(NAPALC). NAPALC is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to promoting the human
and civil rights of Asian Americans. The organization seeks to achieve this
mission by promoting civic engagement and protecting the voting rights of Asian
Americans. In the near future, NAPALC will be distributing the results of a
study of Asian Pacific American electoral participation.
Voter
Empowerment Program
The Voter Empowerment Program is a key campaign of the National Association
for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). This nonpartisan program seeks
to increase the political awareness and participation of African Americans.
The program provides assistance and expert services to local chapters of
the NAACP in an effort to mobilize citizens at the grassroots level.
Operation Big Vote
(OBV)
This website is run by the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation,
a nonpartisan organization devoted to enhancing the civic life of African
Americans. Operation Big Vote (OBV) is a key program of the organization.
The Operation Big Vote program provides voter education as well as registration
and get-out-the-vote services at the local level.
National Council
of La Raza (NCLR)
The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) is an organization dedicated to improving
economic and life opportunities for Hispanic Americans. One way in which
the group seeks to achieve this goal is by protecting and promoting the civil
rights of Hispanic Americans including the right to vote. Towards this end,
the NCLR has published reports on such topics as mobilizing the Latino vote
and language assistance for limited-English-proficient voters.
Southwest Voter Registration
Education Project
This website is run by the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project.
The goal of the organization is to enhance the civic engagement of Latinos
across the Southwest. The group seeks to accomplish this goal by educating
Latinos on the democratic process and the importance of participation.
William C. Velasquez
Institute
The William C. Velasquez Institute is a nonpartisan organization seeking to
improve the civic participation of the Latino community. The organization’s
primary method in achieving this goal is conducting opinion research. The
research is designed to inform political leaders and improve the political
engagement of Latinos.
