these resources will give visitors an indication of the sort of research
that is being conducted by political scientists and other social scientists
on the subject.
Asian Pacific American Caucus
This website is run by the Asian Pacific American Caucus – an affiliate
of the American Political Science Association. Visitors to the website are
able to locate scholars in the field of Asian Pacific American politics and
to identify research in the field. Recent research includes a five-city post-election
survey studying the political behavior of Asian Americans.
Committee on the Status of Latinos and Latinas
The Committee on the Status of Latinos and Latinas is a standing committee
of the American Political Science Association. The committee promotes activities
that encourage the development of Latinos in the profession of political
science. In addition, it is a resource for current research in the study
of Latinos in political science. Recent research includes a study of Latino
political participation, partisanship, and office holding.
Tomas Rivera Policy Institute (TRPI)
This website is run by the Tomas Rivera Policy Institute (TRPI). TRPI
is a policy research organization dedicated to the study of America’s
Latino population. The work of the organization is grounded in its
use of survey
research to study the attitudes and activities of the diverse Latino community.
TRPI is affiliated with the Claremont Graduate University, the University
of Texas at Austin, and Columbia University.
The Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC)
The Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) conducts research on economic,
social, and political issues facing the state. The condition of immigrants
and the effects of immigration on California are policy areas under study
at PPIC as well as the political and civic behavior of its citizens.
The Program
for Research on Black Americans
This website is run by the Program for Research on Black Americans established
by University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research. The organization
collects data and conducts research on various issues facing the African
American population including political behavior. Specifically, the Program
for Research on Black Americans administers the National
Black Election Study series. Based on a sizable
survey, this study examines the political attitudes and behavior of a cross-section
of African Americans.
