HAZEL GLUCK

Hazel Gluck has earned distinction in New Jersey and beyond as a powerful advocate and an effective leader. Since leaving public office, she has gained additional recognition as a highly successful governmental and legislative affairs consultant. In 1993, Ms. Gluck co-chaired Governor Christine Todd Whitman's gubernatorial campaign and then co-chaired the Governor-elect's transition team. A founder of the well-known public affairs firm, Public Policy Advisors, Inc., Ms. Gluck became a principal and then president of PPA and its successor firm, The GluckShaw Group. In 2004 she became a partner of the newly formed firm of MBI-GluckShaw. Her 40-year career in public service included elected and appointed positions at the local, county and state levels. In the 1980's, she held various positions in the cabinet of former Governor Thomas H. Kean including commissioner of the Department of Insurance in (1985), commissioner of Transportation and chair of the New Jersey Transit Corporation (1986-1989). She had previously been executive director of the New Jersey Lottery and also served as a Commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Ms. Gluck began her public service as a member of the Lakewood Board of Education. She was appointed the first director of the Ocean County Department of Consumer Affairs in 1973. In 1977, Ms. Gluck was the first woman ever elected to the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders. She was then elected to the New Jersey General Assembly in 1979. She was named the most impressive Kean cabinet member by New Jersey Reporter Magazine; Woman of the Year by the National Women's Transportation Seminar; and Administrator of the Year by the New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Public Administration. She has also been recognized with the Breaking the Glass Ceiling Award by the national organization, Women Executives in State Government, and was named Ocean County's Woman of the Century.

A graduate of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Gluck is a member of the board of directors of the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce, former member of the board of directors of New Jersey Resources Corporation, serves on the board of trustees of The College of New Jersey and the board of directors of Dottie's House. Most recently she has been appointed by Governor Jon Corzine to the New Jersey Commission on Government Efficiency and Reform.
