The Center for
American Women and Politics (CAWP) is a university-based research,
education and public service center. Its mission is to promote greater
understanding and knowledge about women's changing relationship
to politics and government and to enhance women's influence and
leadership in public life. A unit of the Eagleton Institute of Politics
at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, CAWP is a leading
authority in its field and a respected bridge between the academic
and political worlds. Debbie Walsh is the director of CAWP.

Eagleton Center for Public Interest Polling (ECPIP) |

The Eagleton Center for
Public Interest Polling/Eagleton Poll (ECPIP), founded in 1971, established
one of the nation's first university-based statewide public opinion
polls, which has become a significant feature of the New Jersey
political and public policy landscape. ECPIP provides high-quality
non-partisan information about public opinion in New Jersey and
assists governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, and academic
entities with research services. These research services include
a range of different types of projects such as evaluation research,
needs assessments, and strategic planning. |

Clifford P. Case Professorship of Public Affairs |

In 1980, the Rutgers Board of Governors voted to establish the Clifford P. Case Professorship of Public Affairs to recognize Senator Case’s 34 years representing New Jersey in the United StatesCongress, during which “he consistently put principle above politics” and earned “the deserved reputation of having a profound sense of integrity.”

The Eagleton
Institute Electronic Government Project monitors developments and
innovations in the electronic delivery of public information and services,
with special emphasis on the Institute's interests in state government
and politics.

New Jersey Project |

The
New Jersey Project coordinates, strengthens, and expands Eagleton's
varied efforts to assist individuals, governments and organizations
in shaping New Jersey's political and policy agenda. Begun in the
fall of 1995, the project provides a focus for Eagleton's presence
in the state and its efforts to increase awareness and understanding
of New Jersey politics. Members of Eagleton's faculty and its Centers
have a long and distinguished record of contributing to the politics
and governance of its home state.

Program on Immigration and Democracy |
| |
The Program on Immigration and Democracy is a cross-disciplinary group of immigration scholars that includes Rutgers faculty, Ph.D. students, and affiliated experts. The program hosts regular research workshops at Eagleton for a larger set of scholars, offers public programs to illuminate various immigration issues, and encourages affiliated scholars to contribute their
expertise to the immigration policy debate. Several faculty have been involved in state and national immigration reform policy.

Rutgers Initiative on Climate and Social Policy (CSP) |
| |
CSP functions to marshal the resources of Rutgers University in the social sciences to address the challenges posed by global warming. Its mission is to conduct research, education and public service at both the state and national levels to better understand how our political institutions can respond to these challenges. This initiative is a joint program of the Eagleton Institute of Politics, the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences.

Rutgers Program on the Governor |

The Program
on the Governor, co-chaired by former Governors
Byrne and Thomas H. Kean, has been created to establish
Rutgers as the leading national academic center for
research on the office of the state governor in the 50
states. It was founded in conjunction with the gift by
Governor Byrne of papers, photographs and other memorabilia to the Rutgers University Libraries, with
support of funds raised by Governor Byrne and his
wife, Ruthi Zinn Byrne.

As part of its
efforts promoting civic education on representative democracy,
the Eagleton Institute is offering small grants to teachers
of social studies in middle schools and high schools throughout New

Youth Political Participation Program (YPPP) |

At the Youth Political Participation Program (YPPP) of the Eagleton Institute of Politics, we hold that the quality of our democracy is based in large part on the education youth receive in citizenship. Through research, public service, and educational programs, YPPP is dedicated to exploring civic education at the high school level and political participation among young adults.
